During Our DIGI-TEACH BAUCHI Teacher Onboarding, We Were Reminded What Inclusion Really Means
Today’s DIGI-TEACH BAUCHI Teacher Onboarding was filled with excitement, new connections and the beginning of a new learning journey. But one moment stood out for us.
Among the 50 teachers joining the programme were two teachers from the Special Education Centre, Bauchi, whose stories reminded us that inclusion is not just something we talk about—it is something we must practice.
One of the teachers is blind and teaches blind students at the Special Education Centre. We also welcomed a deaf teacher from the same centre who teaches students with special needs.
Their presence was powerful.
They are not simply joining this programme to receive knowledge. They are coming with a willingness to learn, support others and share the knowledge they gain with their students and fellow teachers.
Their participation reflects what we hope DIGI-TEACH BAUCHI will achieve: teachers who are equipped with digital skills and confident enough to take those skills beyond themselves and into their classrooms and communities.
For us, digital inclusion means ensuring that teachers and learners with disabilities are part of the digital future—not left behind by it.
Today, we welcomed 50 teachers into this journey. Each teacher brings a unique story, experience and challenge. Together, we are building a community of educators ready to learn, adapt, share and transform the way technology is used in education.
